The Hellenic Volleyball Federation announces the launch of the European STARS programme, which marks an important step towards the upgrading of sports education in Greece.

The STARS programme, an initiative funded by the European Council under the ERASMUS+ 2023 call, aims to strengthen professional training in sport. The programme will seek in the period from 15.03.2024 to 14.03.2028 to bridge the existing skills gaps of sport professionals (athletes, coaches, stakeholders) and ensure that all stakeholders are able to provide high quality services in sport environments.

STARS is being implemented in four countries. France, Germany, Greece and Spain through partners including Ministries of Sport, education providers, universities, sports federations and sports schools with a consortium of 17 partners where partners will formulate the skills relationships needed both at EU and regional level to formulate an inclusive sporting framework that contributes to the creation of a sustainable economic and sporting environment.

The European STARS Programme is a four-year project starting on 15.03.2024 and ending on 14.03.2028. The HVBF participates in the programme from 16.01.2025.

For the programme, the HVBF, through research and writing, will create a handbook addressed to coaches, athletes and players to prevent gender-based violence and abuse in sporting environments, in order to contribute to the creation and implementation of an inclusive and sustainable sporting environment through the other partners in Europe.

It is also involved as a partner in the dual career of athletes and in the professional skills acquisition category for the professional rehabilitation of athletes.

STARS is an initiative to reform sports education and training across Europe and has been funded by the European Council through the Partnership for Excellence and the respective Centres of Professional Excellence selected under the ERASMUS+ 2023 call.
